The short version: this app collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers of ours holding your family's information.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter — your kids' names, grades, teacher, photos, class schedules, pickup crew, and checklists — is stored only on your own phone. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared. Deleting the app, or tapping “Erase everything” in Settings, removes it completely because there is no copy anywhere else.

What the app connects to

• Public school calendars. The app reads Beaverton School District's public calendar feeds — the same ones anyone can subscribe to from the district website. No login and no personal data is sent.
• Weather. The app fetches a general forecast for Beaverton, Oregon from Open-Meteo. Your location is never used or requested.
• School websites you open. The School Sites tab is a built-in browser. When you sign in to ParentSquare, ParentVUE, or another site, your password goes directly to that site just as it would in Safari. Beaverton Backpack never sees, stores, or transmits your credentials.

Flyer scanning

When you scan a flyer, text recognition happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. The photo is not uploaded. Calendar events are added only when you tap the button, using write-only access; the app cannot read your calendar.

Children's privacy

This app is made for parents. It does not collect personal information from anyone — adults or children.

Who makes this

Beaverton Backpack is made by one Hiteon Elementary parent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Beaverton School District. Always confirm critical details with your school.
